Tourists spotting dolphin on boat tour
Sunny Greetings

Northstar Meetings Group agrees that incorporating a destination’s local culture into the agenda is a great way to get attendees interested and immersed in the experience of your event. One way to do this, is to embark on an island-hopping tour around the Fort Myers area. Cruising the Gulf of Mexico and its winding waterways, allows your attendees to get a glimpse into our past. Hear about the Calusa Native Americans who settled in Southwest Florida over 2,000 years ago, the area's rich ecological diversity provided an abundance of fish and shellfish, and the magnates Thomas Edison and Henry Ford who built their winter homes along the Caloosahatchee River in 1885. Today, boating is one of our locals' favorite pastimes. The sea ties together unspoiled natural beauty. Expect to see dolphins and other wildlife, and thoughtfully developed playgrounds for all of us.

So... why not invite your attendees to network and create shared memories while experiencing Southwest Florida's rich culture during your next meeting throughout our islands, beaches and neighborhoods.

Accommodation Updates

The historic Shangri-La Springs, located on 8.5 acres, has reopened its newly renovated hotel in the heart of downtown Bonita Springs. Expect two large suites in the main hotel and six modern king guest rooms near the property's courtyard. Built in 1921, a boutique hotel experience awaits your group including a full menu of spa treatments, organic farm-to-table restaurant, and a holistic and organic garden. Beautiful event spaces accommodating anywhere from 10 - 500 attendees are available, making this the perfect location to plan an intimate board retreat or notable offsite event.

The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort & Spa in Bonita Springs has received a Gold Badge in the 2022 U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hotels” awards. The 12th annual Best Hotels rankings evaluate more than 35,000 luxury properties across 400+ destinations in the U.S., Europe, Bermuda, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean. The methodology considers a hotel's star rating and both expert and guest sentiment by collecting annual awards from distinguished travel publications and TripAdvisor user scores, the combination of which helps determine each hotel's rank. The resort boasts 462 newly renovated guest rooms (2021) and over 83,000 square feet of flexible indoor/outdoor event space.

The Caloosa Sound Convention Center & Amphitheater in downtown Fort Myers has opened its much anticipated amphitheater. The new venue opposite from Luminary Hotel and its convention center creates a spectacular setting for events and meetings, holding up to 3,000 people. The amphitheater features a 107-foot-wide stage below four grassy tiers where audiences can stand or sit on lawn chairs and blankets. The expansive space, a hub for fun and excitement in the heart of the River District, can be rented for privately organized concerts and other events. Check out all of the other engaging event venues that are managed by the AAA Four Diamond hotel.

DiamondHead Beach Resort has completed a $5 million multi-phase renovation of their 121 suites. Expect light and bright décor, as well as new furnishings mimicking the colors of the sunshine, sky, sand, and Gulf waters that lie just outside the resort’s doorstep. These updates follow the complete renovation and transition of the restaurant to Cōste Island Cuisine in 2018 and updates to the Cōste Island Cuisine terrace in 2020. The landmark beach resort prides itself in its 7,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor flexible event spaces, on-property restaurants and bars, private catering, superior guest service, and amenities and recreation to keep everyone entertained and delighted.
