A record-breaking 1,085,569 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport in December. It represented a 68% increase for the Fort Myers airport from December 2020 with year-to-date traffic up 73% compared to last year, the Lee County Port Authority announced.

RSW recorded eight consecutive months of record-breaking passenger traffic to close out the year, finishing with more than 10.3 million passengers, a 1% increase over the previous record set in 2019. 

Southwest Airlines led the way in traffic with 190,549 total passengers in December. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (188,792), United (165,141), American (154,493) and Spirit (120,486).

RSW had 10,625 aircraft operations, an increase of 25% over December 2020 while Page Field in Fort Myers saw 13,030 operations, a 20% increase. Page Field’s annual operations finished at 140,062, an increase of 11 percent over 2020.
