Attention ALL Restaurants - please print DBPR Amended EO-2020-09- Issued July 1 and keep on hand so you do not have any issues this weekend.

Effective today, July 1, 2020
DBPR Amended Emergency Order 2020-09 amends the provisions of DBPR Emergency Order 2020-09, as issued on Friday June 26, 2020, to effectively order the following:
  1. vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, but not licensed to offer food service, shall suspend sales of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, provided that these vendors may continue to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption off the premises; and
  2. vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, and also licensed to offer food service, may continue to operate as restaurants at 50% of seating occupancy for the service of food and beverages to customers seated at tables or bar counters with appropriate social distancing.
FAKE Mask ID Cards
This a picture of a “Face Mask Exempt Card” that claims to make the holder of the card exempt from mask requirements. The card is FAKE. The Department of Justice did not issue these cards and does not endorse them.

That being said, some individuals with disabilities may be exempt from mask regulations. Some ordinances provide for this exemption.

If an individual has a disability to exempts them, they are not required to wear the mask. Just as with service animals, we are very limited in what we can ask our guests.

We CANNOT ask what disability they have. We can ask if the individual has a disability that makes them exempt from wearing a mask. We can also ask the customer if there is an accommodation we can offer that would help them (seating outside, writing things on a dry erase board for deaf patrons who normally read lips, etc.).

Proceed with caution here, and avoid confrontation or controversy where possible. If the customer is insistent or confrontational and there’s a risk that there will be blow-back on the business for not accommodating an individual with a disability, try to accommodate the individual by seating them outside or a safe distance away from others so they will not pose a risk.
